Ingham's wet season is brutal on automotive electrics — corrosion, water ingress, harness rot. Auto electrical work done before the wet is a far smaller job than the recovery afterwards, on an older truck or a piece of farm machinery just as much as on a ute. - About 110km up the Bruce Highway, near enough to an hour and a half each way. Cardwell is another 50km further north again.
- Why does wiring fail faster up here?
- Salt and moisture get into a joint and corrode it from the inside, under the insulation, where nothing shows. A connection that would last years in a dry climate can go high-resistance in a couple of wet seasons, and the first sign is usually something small and intermittent that gets blamed on whatever it is feeding.
- Do you do boat wiring for Lucinda and the Hinchinbrook coast?
- Yes. Boat electrical work is run out of the Townsville workshop — trailer boat wiring, nav lights, dual battery systems, sounders and plotters, in marine-grade tinned cable with sealed connections. Creek boats get the same cable and the same joints as the big ones, because they sit in the same water.
- Can you look at a harvester or a haulout?
- Yes — harvester and haulout wiring, charging and starting faults, and the intermittents that only show up under load. Where the job is best done depends on the machine and the fault, so ring us and we will work it out.
- Can I get a battery for a truck or a tractor?
- Yes. Truck, tractor, deep cycle and marine batteries, and the battery gets tested along with the charging system before anything is replaced — on an older machine the charging side is as often the problem as the battery.
