IONNIC. Lighting, alarms and connectors.

IONNIC is an Australian supplier of heavy-vehicle lighting, reversing safety and electrical components. We use their parts on trucks, plant and machinery every day — DT connectors, trailer plugs and electrical consumables are held at the Garbutt workshop, and the larger items come in per job: work lights and beacons, reversing alarms and cameras, switches and cable protection.

Our position

Most of what IONNIC covers is the unglamorous end of a heavy vehicle — the beacon, the reversing alarm, the switch, the connector that has to survive corrugations and a wet season. It is also the end that gets specified badly and fails first, which is why it is worth fitting parts built for the job rather than whatever fits the hole.

Work lights and beacons

IONNIC's lighting range, alongside Nordic Lights and Vision Alert, which they also carry. Work lights, beacons and warning lighting for trucks, plant and machinery.

Reversing alarms and cameras

IONNIC supply bbs-tek white-sound reversing alarms and CCTV systems. White-sound alarms are the broadband type used where a conventional beeper carries too far across a site.

Switches, connectors and electrical

Carlingswitch switches, Schlemmer cable protection, Class1 electrical components and TE DEUTSCH connectors — IONNIC describe themselves as Australia's official Deutsch industrial distributors.

Deutsch connectors, done properly

Deutsch is the connector standard on most modern heavy equipment because it seals against water and dust and stays put under vibration. Terminated with the right tool and the right crimp, it is the difference between a repair and a recurring fault.

The honest take.

This is componentry rather than a headline brand, and that is the point of it. A machine does not stop earning because the light bar was the cheap one — it stops because a connector filled with water. Specifying the electrical fittings properly is quiet work that shows up as the fault you never had.

Do you stock IONNIC parts?+
Not in the online shop — that is the Lift Easy side of the business. The everyday electrical items are held at the Garbutt workshop, though: DT connectors, trailer plugs, connectors and consumables, which go into fit-outs and repair work. Larger items are ordered in per job, so ring us with what the machine needs.
What is a white-sound reversing alarm?+
A broadband alarm rather than a single-tone beeper. The sound drops away quickly outside the working area, so people near the machine hear it clearly while it carries less across the rest of the site. IONNIC supply the bbs-tek range.
Do you do the whole fit-out, or just supply parts?+
Both. A lot of this componentry goes into work we are doing anyway — service body and canopy fit-outs, beacons and work lighting, and the wiring behind toolbox locking. If you would rather do it yourself, ring us with what the machine needs and we will sort the part out.
Why do Deutsch connectors keep coming up on machinery?+
Because they seal. Water and dust are what kill a connection on plant, and vibration is what loosens it. A Deutsch connector addresses both, provided it is terminated with the correct tool rather than crimped with pliers and taped.
